Only had my scooter for a month or so but, from Columbus to the PVSC Band Camp rally and back - 160 miles each way.

PVSC throws a great rally.

Our SQREAM Scooter Club rode from Denver to Steamboat Springs on July 27-29.

Some fun facts:

Total miles traveled: 478.

Highest elevation point: 11,786 feet above sea level.

Mountain passes crossed: Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park and Rabbit Ears Pass near Steamboat Springs.

Top scooter speed: 84 mph.

Our Amerivespa trip was stretched out over 2 weeks but here are some stats:

Most miles in a day: 409 miles. We did this amount twice.

Miles traveled TO Seattle from Wrightwood: 1560 miles in 4 days

Miles FROM Seattle to Wrightwood: 1490 miles in 6 days

Miles for entire trip, including cruising around Seattle: 3190 miles

Our 10 days on the road we averaged just over 300 miles a day.

The experience and memories: Priceless.....kinda matches my signature doesn't it?

677 miles around lake erie in '05 and '06. 2001 yamaha vino 50cc. 26.5 and 28 hrs.

multiple 200+ mile one day trips on a 1980 p200.

So far, not very long... San Jose --> Santa Cruz and back, via backroads. About 90 miles total. Still, it was a BLAST of a ride!

I didn't manage quite as much as the Californians who went to Amerivespa.
But in the first 16 days after purchasing my Scarabeo 500ie, I put about 2000 miles on it.

Four significan riding days
1) 4 days after purchase - Monroe, WI for lunch. ~410km round trip
{in shop for 48 hours for first service @ 960km}
2) 9 days after purchase - western PA for wedding ~770km
3) 4 days later - PA to east-central OH to visit family ~340km
4) 2 days later - OH to NW Chicagoland ~600km

Most of the distance was on one of the following highways US-12, 20, 22, 30, 36, or 60.
Although I did ride I-80, 90, 190 and 480 for a few brief stretches.


For those that say I'm cheating on a 500 .
I have had a 100+ afternoon on my Vino 125. Started riding, went to the lake and turned north.
Next thing I knew, I was in Wisconsin. Found my way back (after fighting a stong headwind)
after about 4 hours total.

It's time for Calgary's Scooter Rally, so about 10 of us from the Edmonton Crude City Scooter Club will travel down from Edmonton and 3 of us will ride the main hwy on our 250GTSs. Mileage, one way is 295km, so approx 600km to get there and back and then the riding we'll do while there. Could easily be 1000km over 3 days. I'm veery thankyful for my Corbin.

A last-minute addtion to my GTS250 for a long trip (I was one of the Californias who rode to Seattle and back for AmeriVespa.) saved my butt. It was the Airhawk seat cushion, medium cruiser size. This is a bunch of connected air cells (rubber) inside a terry cloth cover. It attaches to your seat. You inflate it by mouth, like an air mattress.

Before the Air Hawk, I would get sore after about 125 miles on the seat. With the Air Hawk, I was able to put in twice that distance before getting sore. A good thing, because I ended up putting over 350 mile days on this trip. I will use this product for all long trips from now on. I paid $180 for mine at a local shop.

3200 mile round trip. From Wrightwood California to Seattle Wash and back via the scenic routes. Best ride of our lives, but still too short.

My longest ride was probably only about 100 miles in one day. From Redmond WA, out around Lake Sammamish then out to Snoqualmie Falls and back.

next year itll be smashed, ill be going to the darkside rally.

ill probably have about 50 000 miles on my gts by then.

After having read some of your experiences I have got to get on my scoot and ride a little further.

Mine longest is only about 120 miles in one day.

new total is 710 miles single day coming home from Seattle Amerivespa weekend....

Would have been lovely but for 104F and shredded variator belt.....suks to have to wrench on your bike after 680 miles 30 miles from home.....eeeee

It was a bummer losing napacoatch in Oregon but was special to find him again 400 miles south in Central CA......

710 miles....+ changed drive belt on hot bike on freeway.....12 hours 35 minutes......

that was along day....

100 mile dealer sponsored ride. On an LX50. What fun!

Wow, funny how some threads get dredged up. This post was originally from the first week of MV's existence. As ritchj noted in June (when it got dredged up again) this is topic number 8.

My longest ride is now a bit, errr, longer than my original post. I've since managed an 800 mile day (Seattle to Oakland) in 18 hours, although I used two scooters. It was part of a longer trek from Oakland to Seattle and back that totaled about 2000 miles in all over 7 days.

I wonder what my future holds...

Okay, you win! I wish I had the time to do something like that!

checked my mileage when i got home... 812km (505mi) for the weekend. yeah... eight tanks of gas...

661 mile in 10 hrs from Fort Worth TX to Wentzville MO. Average 66mph for 10 straight hrs. Max speed was 100 mph on the turnpike with the BV500.

350 km. Generally, if I go long distances it'll be on the bike, not the scoot.

Funny, since Amerivespa (where I put on three thousand kilometers in a week) riding for 2, 3 or 4 hr.s on the hwy isn't such a big deal anymore. The GT200 is going full throttle most of the time on the highway. But I still like my ET2 for the city. It's full throttle and smells a little like an old lawnmower.

533 miles in a day From Riverside to Paradise, CA
440 miles in a day From Riverside. Ca to Flagstaff, AZ. Then the rewst of the week up and down to Sedona area, jerome and Cottonwood, from there to Scottsdale and hoem to Riverside. 1307 miles that week. Great vacation, only regret is I had no one with me to share it with! QB

So far, my longest day ride has been from Walnut Creek to Forest Hill and back to Walnut Creek, for a total of 290 miles. So far, my MP3 is less then two months old, and I already have 2,200 miles on it. I'd ride this baby coast to coast--I trust it that much!

Same for me my max on the GTS is probably 120 miles in a day, all the longer trips are on the bike. Although Id love to do a long ride but all my friends ride vintage and wouldnt be up for any long trips.

Mill Valley (Marin Co, north of SF) to Malibu and back over a 3 day weekend. Not as many miles as Tanya. But it was almost all along Hwy 1 so it didn't seem long at all. Riding an interesting road is the key to making the miles melt away.

BTW, I've done that ride in about 6 hours on the Ducati. Vespa took a bit less than 7. To keep your speed up on Hwy 1 on a Vespa you just have to plan your passes carefully! 8)

A few years ago, I rode from Columbus Ohio to Atlanta...about 575 each way.
Uphill and in the snow each way....
No really, it was a great ride. I had a 70mph Chetak at the time, all two lane.
I would do the freeway now with my Gt200. It is a smooth ride here on the freeways. I have a tourtank add on. Looks like a bedroll....holds 2.5 gals of gas. You can cut them into your line, or do what I did. Add a petcock and use the extra tank like a gas station. Just stop and filler up! TubaJim

Best time to do a looooong trip should start out at 3 am in June, that's when the day light is longest of the year. You can drive fast during the day, but limited view of the road when it's dark.

During the trip back home at around 7:30PM last saturday, I was doing 80mph on a curvy section of I44, passing almost every vehicle on the road, a thought came across my mind, running over dead enimal on the road at 80mph. I was then slowing down and followed another car.

Safety overide evrything else.

Clocked 650 miles last weekend. Rode from Seattle to Richland, Wa over 5400 foot Chinook pass and back. Didn't plan on the return ride but my buddy ditched me. Luckily some other friends hung with me and also rode part of the way.

I did the ride one way a couple of years ago on my GT200 but this time I rode my P200. Quite a difference in power and comfort. On the GT it was a breeze, on the P it was a labor of love. And what's with the stiff head wind in both directions!

It ended up a great ride and the rally was a good time.

The ensuing week just sucked after the energy crash.

450 miles in one day on the way back from EuroVespa in San Marino in June, took 3 days to get there and 3 days to get back - 2400 miles in 6 days!

That was 2 up on the GTS, didn't feel like too much of a struggle although the seat gets pretty uncomfortable after an hour or so!

I did about 250 miles on the Sprint around Maryland and PA just for fun. Took all day. I did 1117 miles for a Iron Butt 24 hour endurance "race" but that was on the BMW. I did 1852 in two days to bring a BMW back from New Mexico. I'm not sure but I think one year someone on a scooter did the whole 11 day Iron Butt rally on a scooter. The Iron Butt rally is an 11 day event where each day you cover a minimum of over 1000 miles a day. I cant remember if that guy finished.

Hey, I met you last weekend at Bachaus Raccous 5 and didn't realize you were an MV member. I was the one snapping all the pics of your bike on saturday at the Palm lunch stop. Did the potato make it home BTW?

I bought my GTS at Erico Motorsports (they rock) in Denver, and rode it home to Albuquerque. Even though it was July, I came across rain and cold weather in the mountains. I took me 3 days! I was planning on one. Had a blast. Then, this past September rode 994 miles in 4 days from Abq to Pagosa Springs, Aspen, and Durango. Beautiful. Looking to ride around the Copper Canyon in Mexico some day soon. Anybody have ideas or suggestions on this?

There are no roads crossing the Copper Canyon, just the train. There are poorly maintained dead-end roads going into the Copper Canyon I wouldn't risk breaking down in.

On the GT Dunkirk to Amsterdam 186 miles and in 4 hours.

On a BMW K100 RS Nothern Spain to just South of Paris in a day but my record is at 600 miles within 24 hours on a CX500.
