I've always driven past any gas station that I saw the tanker truck at. some old timers told me that when the truck fills the station's tanks it stirs up any junk sitting in there.
are you buying your gas around the same time of day?
+1. Water settles to the bottom of the tank. A fuel delivery emulsifies the water and it take a while to settle and seperate. It's like salad dressing.
I pick a station that I
know has relatively recent tanks. The new tanls are fiberglass so they don't rust. If I've seen the tanks go in the ground then I'm pretty sure there won't be rust in my gas. There's an old car dealership on the edge of town that was converted to a gas station / mini mart. That's where I buy my gas.
Another big clue is slow pumps. There are two stations in my area with slow pumps. At $4.00 + per gallon they should at least
feel fast, thank you very much! A slow pump indicates that the station never services their pumps. There's an inline filter on the pump. If the pump is that slow it indicates the filter is totally packed with crap. A filter doesn't do anything about water.
