Since the Amsterdam trip is a Cannonball simulation I think you should carry a spare and change it on the side of the road.

Even though we've ridden through London many a time I still quite like to hear the sound of Genie's voice giving me directions through the many rat runs that she knows having lived up there for many years but as soon as an errant taxi driver/cyclist/pedestrian does something a little dangerous or unexpected the narration will stop like end the end of Guy Richie's Revolver and a torrent of expletives will be unleashed at the aforementioned victim often on your behalf.
It's a "you think it and she says it scenario" where your displeasure is vocalised in a manner ever so slightly more colourful than a newly born rainbow.
It must be like being overtaken by an abusive ambulance and made all the more comical by the doppler effect as the volume and the pitch change while the stream of invective vanishes, arms waving, into the distance.
Think of a gobshite Shiva disappearing into the Time Tunnel and you won't be far from the mark.
Several pedestrians will turn their heads while the machine gun staccato expletives bounce skyward ricocheting off building facades and clouds of pigeons erupt into the smog.

Having said all that she is the best pillion ever.

Am I the only one who would pay a fair amount of dosh to hear that? Sounds hilarious.

Pleasure. A friend of mine moved out there a few years ago and his flat backs on to the Heineken brewrey so every so often I take a ride or drive up the coast and hang out in the bars and restaurants.....as you do.
I need to have a couple of decent runs under my belt before I fly to the US so I've ordered a new Pirelli for the rear, as advised.
Granted they stay on for about as long as Sarah Youngs knickers but I love them.

Oh I forget to mention he rides a black LX 50 and a GTS250 which he threw up the road a few years ago after braking heavily before a speed hump in a rural village.
He still has a harry potter scar on his forehead where he opened it up on the brake lever.

He's a lovely guy.

Phew backs onto a heineken brewery. Dangerous! And there was me thinking it was cannabis and girls that drew the folk. I have been a couple of times as a kid, mainly a stop over on flights to Bahrain but never as an adult. Good luck in your little trip Bill dog safe riding, let up know how you get on. How about a picture with some heineken! Enjoy

You see many of the attractions that Amstedam has such as getting smashed off your face, getting stoned off your face and having sex with prostitutes aren't really my thing so I go for the company and the food.
Andrew and I go to this amazing Thai place within walking distance of his apartment and from the comfort of your restaurant seat you can watch the English wankers make wankers of themselves while you tut.

Nice.

And this is the third iteration - each one ends at the 100th page.

A slice of life as delivered by folk who live a bit.

Your mission (should you accept it) is to find the real original starter post, and the reason for it. As you might guess, it was a very frivolous dare that Bill took very seriously.

Well car sales are up this month especially the used stuff so I have a job for a little while longer.
We are about to buy another 20 cars on top of the 7 we got in yesterday and the 17 we had in last week.
Used is good these days.

Yeah and that's my problem Sticky my eyes are much bigger than my wallet.
I look at something and which I want "real bad" and I can justify it on every level then a few weeks later I'll talk myself out of with armed with every reason why I shouldn't buy it.
A month later the process will start again.

I'm a total Arse.

Congratulations Bill - your 'alias' is blown and your 'phone numbers are out there 'cos the piece about your charity ride is at the top of Page 54 in Classic Scootering Scene, Issue No 84, published here in the UK today.

I've been following your preparations on this forum and am pleased that you've got this publicity - hope it proves worthwhile.

PS - Go for the Fuoco; after all you only live once and PTWs are, relatively speaking, two a penny.

Thanks for the mention Helix.

That article was so much better than the one that went into the local newspaper which really was quite awful so I'm really grateful to Mau at Twist and Go who agreed to give me a well written plug a redress the balance.
Neither article generated anymore sponsorship but you've got to try these things havn't you.
It's the first time I've tried to get myself sponsored so it's trial and error for me.

I've never really hidden the fact that Bill isn't my real name but a nickname given to me by a live band over 15 years ago so it's just kinda stuck.
Genie has never called me by the other one but by the many variations and bastardisations of Bill which I like very much indeed.

Yours

Trevor Simpleton.

Found on page 3, oh dear. Perhaps you are all out riding?

Denise's old Suzuki crapped out on Friday so she informed me that I would have to scoot to work today. Oh well! Last week marked my first week this year entirely on the scoots for the commute, and it was fine. Rode in through some thick fog this morning and was busily wiping my visor at every stoplight.

As I'm 50 this year, I have to attend a echocardiogram stress test today, so that should be interesting when I show up in all my gear to run for them on the treadmill. I did wear "loose clothing" under it all, so we'll see.

If things do go pear-shaped, it has been a pleasure conversing with all of you fine folks over the years Razz emoticon

I turned 50 this year too.

Went for my stress test and they looked at my sheet and said I didn't need one. Turns out if you're married they don't have to test you for stress. It's assumed you have it.

I survived the forced run with no "tut-tuts" from the on-site staff. Sadly they were humorless, with nary a smile when I mentioned that I would like the machine that goes "bing!". When I asked why that bit of comedy gold fell flat,
they informed me that the prior patient was on his was to hospital with severe cardiac arrhythmia. Oh dear. The cardio doc will review my performance and will update my GP with the results. Can't go trusting the patients with results, obviously

Now I must schedule my colonoscopy (won't be riding to that one!) and hopefully I'll be checked out (inside and out) and will pass with flying colors. Or not.

Riding on seven of seven commuting days over these past weeks in our glorious late spring weather here in late winter Michigan, but fully expecting it to temporarily end suddenly. At least when that happens all the motorcycles around here will again be put away until the sunny, warm, dry days return.

On the subject of getting on in years, I was just reading an article in the Evening Standard which mentioned the Spanish cellist Pablo Casals, who at age 81 married a 20-year-old. His doctor said, 'Aren't you concerned about the health issues?' and he replied, 'I look at it this way: if she dies, she dies."
