I have a 2010 300S and am coming up on 600 miles. Our local dealer (Fineline-Lawrence, we really miss you Jae!) closed last year and the nearest dealer is 60 miles away.

Can I do the service (yes, of course i CAN do a couple of fluid changes), but will it void my warranty if a dealer doesn't do it? Help me out here, please. What should I do?

As always, thanks everybody for their help.

First thing, ask for help here. Second, but possibly think about it for a moment, in a quiet space, all by yourself, change the oil and filter. Third, don't worry, be happy.

Reading the warranty of my 2010 S125, it's pretty clear that for warranty purposes the work has to be done at a Vespa dealership or the warranty is voided.

Your choice really, you'll either have to take the hassle of a long, long journey to a dealer & back or do it yourself and risk that you don't get into a position where you need to claim on the warranty during its lifetime.

I think the first service is a good opportunity for the mechanic to spot things a new owner might think are normal.

And its a really good excuse for a 60 mile ride!

Not true in terms of UK law either, although I wouldn't like to put it to the test. UK law states that an UK VAT registered garage can do the work, as long as they follow manufacturer recommendations and use original parts.

Indeed. The practical reality is that it's probably not worth the hassle of not having it done in a Vespa dealer to avoid any potential problems down the line.

No, you won't void the warranty. As long as you're comfortable with being able to spot anything that may be amiss, go ahead. 60 miles and $200 is an awful lot considering how little gets done.

In the US, you call and they tell you to drop it off, then two weeks later the kid at the dealer that does oil changes, does just that, changes the oil and pushes it out the door.
In the US that is all you get.

Change it a keep receipts.
