The colors I have in reflective vinyl are black blue, red, white, and yellow (we can order the green if popular)

The colors in normal vinyl are yellow, red, purple, blue, sky blue, green, pink, gold, silver, brown, and cream

If you wanted a design done all you would need to do is email me your design as an image (.SVG, .TTF, .OTF, .PDF, .SCUT, .PNG, .JPG, and .GIF), I would email you what it would look like to get your approval. Then I could cut it and send it to you the next day. If you didn't have the designing skills to make a simple line diagram you could send me a photo and I could trace around the shape, but it might be another $2-5 depending on how detailed or big it was. I don't want to make much, just enough to cover material and a little time.

Logo/Designs made
  • MP3 Logo
  • Android Logo
  • Transformer Logo
  • Eye Brows for 250 headlights
Prices
Here are some prices to help you know how much the designs would be. I have updated them from before. Normal vinyl is only $0.14 a square foot. Reflective is double that $0.28 a square foot. Before I was trying to find the happy medium of normal vinyl and reflective, but since it is two times more expensive to buy I figured I better separate the prices into two types, that way if you want normal vinyl you can save more money. I have the old prices listed below in a separate post for a reference. Shipping is included in the prices below as long is the total is over $5.00, if your order is under $5 I need to add another $1.00 for shipping. Let me know if you have any questions.

Standard/Normal Vinyl $0.14/square inch
$ 0.50 2 x 2 inches
$ 1.25 3 x 3 inches
$ 2.25 4 x 4 inches
$ 9.00 8 x 8 inches
$20.00 12 x 12 inches

Reflective Vinyl $0.28/square inch
$ 1.00 2 x 2 inches
$ 2.50 3 x 3 inches
$ 4.50 4 x 4 inches
$18.00 8 x 8 inches
$40.00 12 x 12 inches

Disclaimer:
I've read in many forums people debate where certain reflective colors go. For example only red reflective on the back, white in the front, and yellow on the sides. But I have seen a lot of different colors in any place it looks good. I would say consult your local laws and regulations if you want to be 100% compliant, but many say the police don't care in their area and are fine.

It's not like you would get rich doing thus stuff, sounds like it would hardly cover the PITA factors so I for one do not mind.
If you are able to do this stuff, I think it would be interesting to say, be able to make ones that were designed to cover specific body parts.
The "nose" piece of the 500 for example, could be cool in bright yellow on the black 500. And maybe a bit on the sides.
If I have time I will try to work some ideas up and you can price them out.
I guess it would all depend on if enough people wanted things to make it worth buying a roll of material.
Can you provide a photo of the material?

So - these are cut-outs - shaped vinyl? So I could design a flame cut-out and get back a flame I could peel off and apply - not just a square sheet witha design printed?
Hot damn. lemme put on my thinking cap....
The Givi for one could stand with some bling and xtra visibility...
I think something like traditional pinstriping would be awesome for the front as Rob said...
Limits on complexity? Format you can work in? I assume it needs converting to vectors so can you take Postscript, Illustrator or SVC files?

You make the design and I could cut it. Even small line lines are usually not a problem. If you didn't have the designing skills to make a simple line diagram you could send me a photo and I could trace around the shape, but it might be another $2-5 depending on how detailed or big it was. I don't want to make much, just enough to cover material and a little time. I've seen some pretty cool designs on scooters but the places that make them usually charge a lot, more than what I would pay.

The file formats for designs are SVG, TTF, OTF, PDF or SCUT. But I have imported .PNG, .JPG, and .GIF line diagrams and it worked fine also.

I've seen a lot of designs put on the back of helmets too, so your head can reflect light when there are people behind you. I have been trying to think what kind of design I would like and try to do one so others could see pictures. But before I buy a roll I want to make sure it is a color others would like. I am thinking black would be a popular one, and maybe white, red and yellow? Eventually once I get some orders in I would use all the extra money made to buy the other colors so I could do any of the above colors, just in case someone wanted a green frog or blue flames, etc.

I've read in many forums people debate where certain colors go. For example only red reflective on the back, white in the front, and yellow on the sides. But I have seen a lot of different colors in any place it looks good. The place I am buying from doesn't have any pictures but I did ask them about the colors and they said each color was it's true color. So blue is blue, not light blue or dark blue. If you understand html color code or rgb it is like for red the colors would be red is 255 or FF and the other colors green and blue are 00. Blue would be 00 for red, 00 for green, and FF or 255 for blue. They did say yellow was the only exception, it is more of a dark yellow, see image below for reference

This was taken off another vinyl site so that is why there is no green. The green is more of a true green. But the yellow, red, black, white, etc should be accurate.

I was thinking of some simple but somewhat large pieces, just for visibilities sake. Most of the time you find sites that sell this stuff and it's all skull and crossbones Ect....I never seem to want to actually paint my bike so this is a good non committal option...

Wouldn't it be easier that the MP3s coming to the USA be changed either in production or when the dealerships receive them here, with the American speedometer and odometer?

Like they do with European cars coming for sell in the USA?

Otherwise, I would probably, go to a hobby center, pick up a "Painty Twin" (paint marker) pen. This pen has black paint on one end and white paint on the other. And draw a thin line on the face plate of the speedometer, to indicate certain speeds, with white.

City speed limits.
Max speed limit.
Normal cruising speed.

For those of you that have the black MP3s, the black end of this pen "could" cover up a scratch. After all, it is paint.

And it is a permanent pen, but on a faceplate, it is easy to use your fingernail to scratch it off.

It is Oil-Based*Permanent*Waterproof*Opaque paint pen.

I would guess they just want to save on production costs to the USA. And the marker idea is a great idea for those who want to do it themselves. You're right the black would also help cover up scratches.

Also, I have an update on the reflective vinyl. I should have black and yellow reflective vinyl in the middle of this week so if anyone wants to send me some graphics I can let you know if it would work or not. Once I get the vinyl I'll try to get some reflective designs made for my scooter and take some pictures

the speedo is a universal, has both km's and mph. in fact if tyou look at the cars today most have both the markings also. Some of the digital speedos can be change either way also.

If your odo is in km's just change it. Its in the manual on how to. Alos can change the temp from C to F

I am wondering if anyone would be interested in some reflective vinyl designs for their scooters or helmets. We found a great site that we could get engineering grade, 7 year outdoor reflective vinyl. It comes in black, yellow, red, blue, green, and white. If I knew what color(s) would be popular I could order a roll or two.

Here are some prices to help you know how much the designs would be
$ 8.00 4 x 4 inches
$16.00 8 x 8 inches
$20.00 12 x 12 inches

* I never really thought about putting reflective stickers or vinyl on my scooter but there might be some interested in it. I don't want to make it sounds like I am just in the forum to make money. I love all the tutorials and help I have found and I would love to help future new users with knowledge I have gained here. I am just offering a service my wife does on the side to be of help to others. (She usually just does home vinyl projects locally)

Let me know if I shouldn't post things like this here in the forum, this is a great forum

A most generous and intriguing proposition--I've actually been looking to get a blue, white, or silver relfective AF logo on the rear mudflap of my 500 now that we've removed the dealer name/stickers. What kind of "artisans fee" would be involved? I'm definitely in for some scooter dressing!

The only fee would be for the vinyl:
Quote:
$ 8.00 4 x 4 inches
$16.00 8 x 8 inches
$20.00 12 x 12 inches
And if you want me to take the logo and cut it up maybe $2-3. Not much, it is just something fun to do for people. Right now we just have the black and yellow, but I am thinking white and red would be the next colors, but maybe I'd get blue and white if it's something you'd like. Eventually I will have all the colors but it's going to take some time to get all of them (Maybe a month?). I am using any funds I get from the speedometer designs to get reflective vinyl. I might not sell much, but in case someone needs it I'd have the resources to help someone.

Update on progress
I finally was able to get some designs cut with the black vinyl and put them on my mp3 this weekend. Here are some pictures with my car behind/in front of my scooter shinning the lights on the patterns on my scooter. I am going to work on a mouth with jagged teeth on the front next

Android logo on the back

Up close Android logo

Eyebrows in the front

Front with black vinyl (not good lighting conditions, but not noticeable)

Back with the android logo in black

I created the MP3 logo in the vinyl software and updated the first post with more information. If anyone wants a copy of this logo just let me know how wide you want it and I can tell you how tall it would be.

Indeed, the MP3 speedometer is graduated in both kms and miles per hour. The problem is that the mph are dark red and it is impossible to read them while riding. I've had great results with likearaptor's reflective yellow scale for my speedometer. Seems like a few reflective yellow graphics on the body panels would really add some visibility - as well as personal style!

I've been looking for a Black Decal that would resemble the Transformers Emblem seen on Vehicles that can turn into Robots on the movie. Have anything like that? Something that would possibly go on Front or Windsscreen.

Thanks,

Received my Emblem today...
I have the affect I was looking for.
Not conspicuous, similar to Movie.
But if you were looking for it, you can find it.

I just came back from a Ride over 300 miles, and knew the GPS settings for my MP3. The overlay for SpeedO is right on.

Thanks for making these for me,

i like the idea of a graphic only showing at night with lights shining on it.

i'm gonna work on a design and send it your way.

thanks.

Update on pricing
I have updated the prices from before. Shipping is included in the prices below as long is the total is over $5.00, if your order is under $5 I need to add another $1.00 for shipping. Let me know if you have any questions.

Standard/Normal Vinyl $0.14/square inch
$ 0.50 2 x 2 inches
$ 1.25 3 x 3 inches
$ 2.25 4 x 4 inches
$ 9.00 8 x 8 inches
$20.00 12 x 12 inches

Reflective Vinyl $0.28/square inch
$ 1.00 2 x 2 inches
$ 2.50 3 x 3 inches
$ 4.50 4 x 4 inches
$18.00 8 x 8 inches
$40.00 12 x 12 inches

Old pricing for reference sake: (not in use now)
$ 4.00 2 x 2 inches
$ 8.00 3 x 3 inches
$12.00 4 x 4 inches
$16.00 8 x 8 inches
$20.00 12 x 12 inches

I think blue is my favorite reflective vinyl color. I've been tempted to do lines of blue to make it more of a Tron themed bike, but I haven't had much time to work on reflective designs. Hopefully things calm down and I can get some more things posted here
