As Jimmy and his pals are driving down the main drag of Brighton, they sing either:

"We're the mods, we're the mods, we're the mods mods mods"
or:
"We're the mods, we're the mods, we're the, we're the, we're the mods"

Someone please refresh my memory. I know it's a ridiculous question, but it's the dead of winter, you know.

Re: Quadrophenia question
It's been a really really long time since I've seen Quadrophenia, but I don't think it's exactly either.

I think when the Mods are cornered by the bobbies after the riot, they start jumping up and down chanting

We are the Mods. We are the Mods. We are... We are... We are the Mods.

(No contractions there, mate!)

Damn, I just pogoed around my kitchen chanting, "We are the Mods. We are the Mods. We are... We are... We are the Mods," until my 13-year-old came in and said, "Dad, please, you're scaring the children!" Man, I hate it when he does that...

I agree with John.

"We are, we are, we are the mods."

Good times, good memories.

I'll agree with that. I was overlooking the contractions.

What we need is a cinematic documentary chronicaling the current scooter scene. We could watch all our friends endlessly. Wouldn't that be cool.

Thanks

IIRC, there's some nudity (boys, actually) and one (I think) fully-clothed sex scene. Plus the fight scenes between the mods and the rockers, and plenty of drug use.

I might be leaving something out, but that's my recollection. It's actually relatively tame by today's movie standards, with the exception of the male full frontal, which we don't see much on this side of the pond.

Sex, drugs and rock & roll!!

But pretty tame by todays standards. PG-13 in 2006

Thanks Jess. I have to be careful about what might get into the wrong hands around here. Some R's aren't bad at all, but some are terrible.

Oh, one other thing for the uninitiated. While it is one of the classic scooter movies, it's not what I would call a very uplifting movie. Kinda dark, actually. Not what one would consider a feel-good movie.

Hmmm, maybe I should just rewatch "Roman Holiday" or "Come September. "

Thanks for the warning.

I'm not familiar with 'Come September", but the scooters in Roman Holiday are practically nonexistent compared to Quadrophenia. It's worth watching, I just didn't want you to be surprised by it.

Come September is an early 60's movie with several scooter scenes, some very "smoking" scooters at that. It's a fun movie, but a very 60's corny movie too.

Here you go, watch it tonight, thinking about this.

The intro, as you are looking over the sunset, and see jimmy sitting there.

that is actually the last scene of the movie.

they show where he is "now" and the rest of the movie is how he got there.

its a total internal thing. its what jimmy saw happening to him.

The best thing in the movie is seeing the young Sting with his beautiful Vespa all moded out.
