Has anyone used Castrol Syntec oil in MP3? It meets all specs according to Piaggio user manuel. I know this subject has been brought up before. Your comments please.

Wish I could help, but I've always stuck with the Agip oil.

Gee, that is what I been using on my 500. Motorcycles have clutches internal, but the scooter is an exterior dry clutch. It is usually just the oil modifiers added to the oil, that become concerns on the clutches. Rated for diesels engines, that have much much more stress on oil.

"JASO MA: Japanese standard for special oil which can be used in 4-stroke motorcycle engine with one oil system for engine, gearbox and wet clutch system. Fluid is non-friction modified."

Are there other factors here -- realizing that scooters do not have an engine, gearbox, and wet clutch that share the same oil system -- that causes Piaggio to specify JASO MA?

Use the Shella Rotella T6 from Walmart. It meets the requirements and runs less than $25/gallon.

I'm using WalMart 10W-40 car dino oil. Change it every 3K miles on the 400, every 2K miles on the 250, filter every 6K miles.

+1---Go with the oil for Diesel! Especially if it has MOLY in it.

I used castrol RS 4T 5-40 in my 250. 16,000 miles no problems.

Now use Shella Rotella T6 in the 500.

This is what Motorcyle Superstore used as a standard. It is the only oil my 250 had in the 23000 miles I owned it and first 30,000 miles of my 400. It can be found in many motorcycle shops and I have seen it in some Walmarts.

Motoretts uses a different oil and when I change my own have used Rotella T^
