First, I'll apologize that I'm not putting up pics yet. But, they're coming.
I have a gray 2009 MP3 400. My first mods took place earlier today. The planned and current upgrades are:
- Heated handlebars
- Cupholder
- Givi AF504 windshield
- Givi MonoKey Top Case and support
- LED under-carriage running lights
- Front flood lights
- Custom seat with heater and backrest
So, this afternoon, I put in the heated hand grips (Oxford Heaterz) - a 2 hour project and a cupholder (a 2 minute project). Pictures are coming soon, but the initial reports are - the heaterz are GREAT. I also picked up a set of the Oxford handlebar muffs. I figure, between the muffs and the grips, I should have plenty warm hands this winter.
The Oxfords have a control panel that is supposed to mount up on the handlebars, but given the lengths of the cables for the battery leads and the control panel, it made more sense to mount the panel by the seat. I can easily reach the panel with my right hand while at a light or while cruising on a straight stretch when a 1-second engine break won't hurt.
As for the other mods - the Givi windshield is on its way from my local dealer. Everything else is pending funds and spouse approval.
Cheers-
J

left side control location would have been better so to keep your right hand on the throttle.
the heated grips are great in the rain in the summer too. help keeps the gloves dryer.

I would agree - left would be best.
However, where I mounted it (on the passenger foot rest) is where I have my drink holder. I never ride 2-up so it won't be an issue taking up the rear foot rests. Also, I don't intend to adjust it while riding. If I'm desperate and it's too hot or too cold, I can wait for a light.
I'll be uploading some pics soon.
