Posted some pics on Flickr of the port matching I had done and yesterday received a SIP package with Hella Bar end signals. I'll try to hook it up by the end of summer.
Bad riding weather this week: after two weeks of highly unusual warm (summer like!) weather, we're back to normal. Below freezing temps in the a.m. commute makes it too risky to ride in. Things will be warmer next week, though!!! |

Woke up lunch time (doing nights. Not a lazy bum around) to find my piaggio badge still not arrived from ebay. Paypal now claiming money back. Went outside and topped up the sunburn on my huge centre parting. Fish and chips for tea. Now gently rocking my beautiful boy off to sleep. Then as the wife watches her crap on tv. I will partake in some ebay browsing and some online chatting with my MV friends!

And your right, a top up of the tyres makes all the difference. handling and smoothness, I cant actually believe how much I have to top my front one up! |

...I ,
Used a GPS device to get an idea of how accurate my speedo is on the old scooter. The answer.....not very. I have been running around under the impression that 45mph is easily attained by "Sophia" and so I cruise to work on our rural roads at that speed. Wrong. Based on the Garmin Etrek my speeds are:- Speedo Indicated..................Actual. 11 mph............................11 mph 19 mph............................14.8 mph 25 mph............................20 mph 34 mph............................29 mph 45 mph............................40 mph WOT Level 52 mph............................47 mph Flat out downhill (wot)............................55 mph My speedo seems to only be correct at 2 speeds, 11mph and zero Pitiful, absolutely pitiful. I will have to see about some upgrades after the cannonball. ![]() |

Hi Travis
I guess my GPS bad news will translate to good news for you Travis. I now know I have little choice but to do an upgrade. To get a bit more out of the old girl.

Maybe Vespa speed is similar to the weather report "Feels Like" or "Realfeel" temperatures when they factor in all the variables. At this stage in life, riding an old Vespa over 50 mph or so feels like over 100 used to on motorcycles.

Rust treatment, paint restorer, fixing kits, dodo juice wax. A few basic things so I can start revealing the paintwork and protecting it over the bank holiday weekend. |

That looks like a sweet ride voodoo... + on the KB exhaust tip... they're catching on nicely.
Right now ssshhh. I'm litterally in garage, door down, radio off, hiding from a cop. I came home to tune the carb on my P as the second I was pulling out of the alley, a cop in an suv, pulled up right on front of me and parked... I shut it off, got off, took the cowl off and pretended something was broken, and started to pull the plug... it's the only tool I had on me... He left, so I pushed it into the garage, came out 10 later, he's gone, so I went screaming down the street and back, WOT and I see him at the end of the block pointed in my direction... jammed into garage (which I ledt open), killed the bike closed the door, and killed the music... I have a plate from an Indian I used to have on it, and it's not been registered here in Chicago yet... Now I'm hunkered down, hiding out... I know he'll be looking for a brite yellow bike ![]() |

Was about to pull my carb and finally get things running right. I looked out the window before running down to the basement to get some tools. My bike was parked about 2 feet in front of a black benz that had been parked there for a while, There were two people in it obviously leaving. They had about 3 1/2' behind them(more than enough space). I had a weird feeling so I watched for a bit, then decided I was being paranoid. Come out sure enough, benz was gone and my bike was parked on an angle with nice yellow curb paint on the cowl. Upon further inpesction the gear selector had taken the biggest blow destroying my neutral switch. You can tell they tried to move it and dropped it by how it hit the curb and the lack of damage to the leg shield and bars.
Guess this sticker didn't do the trick. ![]() |

I'm gonna go look for the black car and exact some revenge Man, I'm sorry bro.. today might be the day for that whiskey bar. is it an old benz? we can at very least get the hubcaps as trophies Aaron, go knock on doors, and see if you can find out who owns that benz. |

I asked around a little, but no dice. I moved it to the curb so the guy upstairs could mow the lawn. It was at the curb for like 3 hrs! I also know how much room the douche had behind him cuz it was my crappy Carola that was parked behind. And nah, it's a early aughts economy model. Believe me if it was we'd all be riding with merc hubs.

It's Alive !!
I finally got the old Stock Rally engine installed. Its my rebuit bone stock femsatronic, kicked 3 times before it started. Watched the oiler take over went for a light ride.
Everything feels good though out the gears I added a bit of oil to the .50 gallon of gas I put in untill the oiler took over then topped it off with high test. It's a bit boggy the first part of the throttle. I'll wait untill all the mixed gas is gone before I adj. the mix screw. What difference the Rally is to the P. |
