Just ran across this link http://tinyurl.com/7kstfr6 Anyone have any information on this system and/or concept and would it easily install on the Vespas?

I like it. Sounds like a pulsating Stebil. The light show is pretty good too. I don't see why there would be any problem installing it.

They claim the air horn is comparable in size to the Stebel Nautilus (minus some sort of design flaw the Stebel has.) Here is a link to a wiki article on installing the Stebel on a GT200L https://modernvespa.com/forum/wiki-gt-stebel.
They also say that the control unit is the size of a matchbox which should fit... someplace. I like that you can still maintain the friendly *toot*toot* horn and then it will go all crazy train when the need arises. I like this idea a lot. Seriously thinking about backing it so I can get a system and try it out. |

the opening to the song was my first thought after the guy drove past the camera with everything going.

"standard" headlight modulators like Signal Dynamics modulate the headlight when the horn is pressed. So anyone with a stebel can do this.

Technically it is illegal in Thailand for non emergency vehicles to have modulating horns. But...

I just downloaded my video from the GoPro and watched it. It was a windy ride in parts, very windy and you can barely hear the horn when i beep it. You have the windows up and the radio on and a cager wouldn't hear it. wow.

Thanks, comments seem to support what I was thinking, so will give it a shot. I'm thinking the control box will fit behind the left knee panel. Now if one of the pros could post a tutorial on installation when they come out...

I like the "friendly beep" function that Jess pointed out, It's a hoot to toot at folk walking and neighbors, etc. (without scaring the bageeza's outta them). So I will be putting in for one of these Banshee's today. I was about to order the Stebel nautilus compact...glad I saw this thread first! Thank you classic rider for the link!

Does it matter if you have a non stock head light? I have the Vleds bulb (system) in mine. Hmmmm.

I need to separate the Stiebel compressor from the horn to get it to fit in the GTV. Rick also had to do this on his Super and remove the original "meep meep". My question is about space and fit. How do you find room in there to leave the original and add the big one?

Reports with Pictures Assignment
Ok everybody who has or will be backing the Banshee Horn project - Take a few pics & detail your install experience. We can then determine if this system is more effective than the traditional Steibel horn. My gut says it will.

Just got a project update from the Banshee project.
Quote: We are moving well with the production of the Banshee horn systems and are having a production run of 1000 systems done at present. We are aiming to ship all the systems late in February. |

Great idea, just a couple of issues though...
1. Will it really fit somewhere if you leave the original horn? 2. Is there a way to temporarily disable it so that, when the bike is being MOT tested (every year in the UK) you can then get around any potentially legal problems. I have asked 2 and will let you know what answer I get. Charles. |

To those that pledged and backed this banchee horn:
Did any of you receive an email from Kickstarter asking you to complete a form for your horn "color" choice? I got an email this past Fri and then another one as a reminder Sat. to do just that. On the email, I clicked a button and it took me to the survey/color form. I've been trying to complete the form and it keeps saying "I made a typo error and I have ten minutes to correct the mistake" (huh?) Okay, so I try over and over again till my 10 mins run out Then I'm told to sign into facebook to write to Peter Olt (CEO of the Banshee Horn). I sign in and write a brief note explaining my difficulty in completing and submitting the "color choice form" ....due to typo error. I am now waiting for a response as to what typo error I made. |

If during the MOT they did hold the horn for half a second - yes, you would fail as the lights flash which would certainly be illegal. |

Hmmm, that could be. It was so odd. I kept rechecking what I typed and all looked fine. I'll give them a call today. Just thought I'd pop the question here first, thanks Scutrbrau

Thanks to you too sticky
I emailed and called Banshee today (Tampa, FL) spoke to Greg. He said there must have been a computer gliche at kickstarter's website with the survey/color form ( ) He processed my survey/color choice and said orders will start going out early March. Glad that's sorted. |

14 thank you. I really do need a loud horn. Altho i can probably yell louder than most horns. It was really noticeable when i filmed one of our rides. I was trying to get Dan's attention (he was riding a Harley with loud pipes) and i could barely hear my horn. It's only about 4 feet away from the camera and mic.

I backed the project for a kit (at international rate) and did the follow-up color choice thing without a problem.
Haven't decided where exactly to fit everything on my Vespa... but I can't wait. This could be a life saver! As Jess said, I hope this guy does well and his product goes on to be a success. |

Starting to have doubts...Just got another email asking me to do something I already did:
Peter Olt says: Hey John, In order for us to get your Banshee Horn System out to you we need the following. In our recent Kickstarter survey you failed to answer the follow question "To receive my reward, I understand that horns must be used in a safe and responsible manner, hearing loss or permanent damage may result from unsafe use. I will comply with Federal/Country laws, local laws, noise ordinances, and D.O.T. sound levels laws." Could you please complete your survey by answering this question with a yes or no or your name. Thanks, Banshee Horn LLC Greg Moore |

sticky I would give Greg a call, it was the only way I could resolve the survey problem I was having. Funny thing is, I initially answered everything correctly (several times), and it still didn't fly Calling, leaving a message and getting a call back worked.
There is no way you overlooked that "checkbox." I didn't either. What's with all the delay re-questioning? Buying more time? Don't get it. Here's Greg's # 727-744-6808 if you need it |
