I'm thinking of getting one or the other for the GT. I'm worried that they may require re-jetting the carb. Also wonder if it will cause the engine to be less reliable. I personally think the PM Tuning pipe looks sharper. I don't mind if it's loud so the sound difference is a non issue for me. Which one do you guys prefer? Is the price difference worth it for the PM Tuning pipe?

I have a GTS and recently had a Scorpion fitted. I had it on for a couple of months then switched back to the original factory fitted Vespa pipe.
The Scorpion was noisy (far too noisy!!) and i felt affected the handling, not to mention being slower off the mark. On the plus side it did look better than the standard pipe. A friend had the PM pipe fitted, this was more exensive but did look better. Again it was very noisy, not sure what the handling was like though. I now know of a handful of people who have had Scorpions fitted and since moved back to the original pipe. The PM is actually illegal over here (the uk) as it doesn't meet the standards required by law, on the other hand the Scorpion meets these standards "e" marked. My tip is to stick with the original pipe. Jif |

My vote is for the PM, I'm gonna get that bad boy fitted to my Scoot for the beginning of the riding season here in Maine. If that ever comes, we're due for another foot of snow tonight!

I'm waiting for Leo Vince to come out with their 4Road system. Then maybe. I like how quiet my GTS is on long rides. I am not sure the performance is worth the cost at all. I mean $500-600.00 for an exhaust? Maybe for my car and its made by Borla and is all stainless steel. But for a can with a sticker on it that is really loud, no thanks. I say buy yourself everything else you need first. A really good riding jacket, gloves and helmet. Etc...

Read loads of posts on exhausts and went for the PM. It's supposedly better quality than the Scorpion and I was told it was quieter. However, I fitted the PM yesterday and it is very very loud.
I'm not sure if either pipe is road legal PM does look the business with the billet bracket et. |

I know this is not a deciding factor, but riding behind someone with a Scorpion on a rally ride isn't much fun....you get all the noise and the percussion.

Baby arms,
The PM is not "road legal" in the UK, it doesn't have the required "e" mark. You will be ok until you get pulled over (if ever) and may also face a problem when you come to the MOT as they shouldn't pass your scoot with a non road legal pipe fitted. Finally i had to inform my insurance provider "ebike" that i had a non standard pipe fitted, it fell in the catagory of "increasing the power output up to 5%". The increase was what the Scorpion was supposed to provide however at best it was only as fast as when the standard pipe was fitted. Jif |

I had to replace my Scorpion back to OEM.
The header pipe on my Scorpion cracked at the O2 Sensor boss (the fitting where the GTS O2 conects) I never like the Scorpion from day 1 |

Also riding behind the PM may not be as bad as the scorp, since for the GT's at least it has a little piggly tail pointing the exhaust downward. x |

Been for a longer ride today. convinced it's fitted correctly as no sign of blowing. It is actually pretty quiet on tickover, but sounds like a Triumph Bonneville when opened up!

Is there anyone who's heard the range of performance exhausts who could rank them from quietest to loudest? I really wouldn't mind getting away from the stock but don't want a lot of noise.
On that same ranking, could you including a ranking of performance boost? OK, so I'm asking a lot and it would be somewhat subjective but even subjective is better than nothing. In the land of the minivan I've not had the opportunity to year any of these exhausts for comparison. Thanks folks. |

I have the pm pipe the thing that got me is that the pipe has a loop at the begining so you dont loose all backpressure and lowend power like ive heard about the scorpion .When you first put one on especialy in the middle of winter it sounds loud real loud but the more I ride the more I love it and it isnt as loud as I thaught it was .I realy love it now .I felt the most difference right after I fist take off between about 30 and 60 mph.It just feels more zippy.Good luck

I would agree, it seems to have a little more go at the bottom end / mid range with the PM. Hopefully I will become acustomed to the noise

I voted
i voted for the scorpion, but not the titanium even though i have a titanium. its kinda pricey
IMO, I never cared for the exhaust note of the PM, and the non fluid way it mounts to the scooter, that big gold brackett is not to my taste. On the other hand, The scorpion brackett is lame, Mine never broke but too many people report here that they have problems with the brackett. The way the scorpion looks on the scoot is better for me. I wish someone (Nyle!), would develop a pipe that has the merits of both pipes. Thanks dr |

I think the PM's main merit is that it was designed for the GTS, hence the squirly pipe.
The Scorpion was developed for the GT and then a boss was added to accept the Lambda sensor for the GTS. THe scorion pipe also looks like a motorbike end can. All this said I think I would have gone for the Scorpion if I'd known it was quiter than the PM. I thought it was the other way round and got the PM, D'oh :? |
