Sheesh. That's got to be a lie. I mean, I had my Scarabeo kitted out with a touring exhaust, and it could still only get 67mph at best. I bet he's just got a seriously ambitious speedo, and actually believes it.

i should get that exhaust he has and put it on my et4, i should be able to go at least 110 mph.

What's with the 2% mixing cup in the glove box? Hopefully just a spare for his pals with premix bikes.

I'm not gonna vouch for 71 mph, but I remember this bike appearing at a few Scootlanta rides and it's a damned fast ET2. Don't know the details, but it is a 2-stroke, so maybe that premix cup is there for a little extra juice, so to speak.

I think you are right about the "extra juice". good point.. and its lookin like it is a super speedy et2.

Our's hits 50 no problem and is quick off the line but 71? Wow! Even if it's 65 that's impressive!

My ET2 is kitted, and has a performance pipe, and it will do 50 mph.

ha! what a coincidence. i was actually looking at buying that vespa and i came to this site for info.

this will be the second 2 wheeled vehicle ive owned. the first being an 01 yamaha R6. this will be solely for commuting purposes. i will be moving off to college later this year and i thought a moped/scooter would be a good idea. i love the style of vespa and dont care for other companies. i want a 49-50cc, whichever is the limit, to eliminate insurance and registration. soon to be poor college kid:)

so is this not a good buy? i too thought 71MPH seemed a little high. ive already messaged the seller. ill be living in a decent sized town with 55MPH speed limits.

whats the expected life span of these models? or vespas in general? maintenance costs? reliability issues?

i looked through the FAQ and have tried to find info about routine maintenance on these to look and see if its still a good ideai buy one. i came accross this thread first though. please direct me in the to the info i seek

Word is, the seller may not know it has a 70cc kit and loads of other performance parts installed. The work is top-notch, but know that this is NOT your typical ET2.

Sure, it's a good buy if you can get it for under 2k. That scooter should last for tens of thousands of miles if it's well taken care of. Spock (a member of this board) has an ET4 with over 20,000 miles on it, and he doesn't baby it.

i think i may try to get it. this is much sooner than i had expected though. i guess its time to sale some rx7 stuff.

Considering the weight of an ET2... do you think you'd WANT to go over 70 MPH on it??? That would scare the crud out of me!!!

ET2 weights around 250lbs, correct? most 600cc motor cycles weigh around 350lbs. thats only 100lbs more. they can also good 100mph faster.

It's not the weight, it's the size of the wheels. 10" wheels just don't give you the same gyroscopic stability bigger wheels do. 70mph is plenty fast in this case.

i know. thats what i was saying. weight isnt the issue. there are many different factors; steering/suspenion geometry, wheels(as youve stated), tires, etc.

no matter what the case is, the fact is you dont want to go any faster on a scooter.

anyone have vespa with 70cc kit and go 70mph?? My old scooter 2000 Aprilia SR 70cc went 70mph on flat...
