Be nice to him, Jim. I can meet him on this end with a tire iron once the scooters have been delivered.

You may be right. When I shipped my scooters from Maine to Virginia I watched the truck head down the street and wondered 1) if they would actually get delivered and 2) still be intact when they were. It worked out fine in the end but I didn't breathe easy until it was over and done with.

Spent the morning balancing tires, changing belt, checking valves and making sure everything is tight.

Bike is ready.

Now to get the trailer to where it needs to be this weekend.

I hope they left a Spot meter on one of those scooters and it can be tracked to its destination.

Very nice trucker - reckons he can get the scoots to VA on Tuesday with ease. He also knew excatly what to do to strap the scoots down, even though he's only dealt with his own smallframes before.

I've also delivered my scooter to San Jose to go on Jesse's truck - DougL drove K1's car down there and drove me back - a good introduction to driving here before setting off the the truck in Savannah.

Final suspension compression to DougA's bike

Both scooters securely strapped in

Great news JimC!

Assuming nothing unexpectant in the final shakedown rides this weekend... its finally ready to go (as of 7PM last night)! I've been telling Lisa since January "ahh... another 4 hours, it will be ready".

My MedJet Assistance card arrived yesterday as well.

Is there any logical reason to hook up the VDST and snap shot everything pre-cannonball?

Yes it is, 120. Its the only combo so far that gives me no wobble fully loaded, hands free coasting to a stop. And... due to a 2010 scooter works shipping screw up, I have 3 K66/120 and 3 K66/130s in storage. =/

I very interested to see how the Power Pures do!

I can't tell you much about their longevity yet, but I have ridden a bit on them and have some initial feedback.

Our shakedown ride was an attempt at doing the legendary Three Peaks Challenge. I only managed the first peak before my bike broke, but that peak was Mount Hamilton, the same one we summited on Day 1 of 2008. This is a winding mountain road up to Lick Observatory, followed by a harrowing road down the backside of the mountain with more hairpin turns than you would think possible.

I was stupid enough to start the ride on tires that had literally never touched pavement before, completely unscrubbed. Still, the Power Pures rocked. Really, really nice handling, really grippy, and I really pushed them, right up until the point I smoked my rear brake on the downhill. After that, I had to limp for awhile until my rear brake cooled off.

So A+ for handling in the twisties.

The downside I've found (and this might be a function of me having a 130 mounted backwards on the front) is on grooved concrete. These have easily the worst head pull I've experienced, as the two diverging grooves near the center of the tire take turns pulling the wheel from one side to the other. I'm long past the point where grooved pavement scares me, but these tires are annoying in this environment.

But again, I have a nonstandard setup, running a 130 backwards on the front. I haven't seen the "proper" 120 front, and the tread on that one might be perfectly fine.

helmet setup is done. GPS routes are done. I am starting my playlist for my ipod.

Packing the GT starts tomorrow with an inventory of tools and spares and a tetris like approach to get as much of it in the pet carrier...

After loading the truck and trailer I noticed that the air injection tube on the SYM was bouncing around a bit. discovered that the bracket and the metal tube were broken.

20 minutes later Jess had made a blanking plate while I removed the rest of the offending equipment. All better now.

Now for some sleep before a really really long drive in the morning.

P.S. I'm glad two of you noticed my shenanigans. I was getting worried that everyone was blinded by the legshield.
