My powerbook G4 isn't recognizing my RAM anymore! How do I know if my memory is fried? I reseated it but when I restarted the computer, it said I had a whopping 128mb. Any suggestions?

You've almost answered your own question.
Replace the ram, if it works the old one is fried, if the new one doesn't show up, that slot could be fried.

I have four G4 Mac's and haven't had that problem yet.

That would stink to buy new RAM just for the slot to be fried. How would a fried slot happen? Any way to check the slot?

You could take the RAM back and ask for another stick, If it still doesn't work...
Then you might have a problem or the dealer has a lot of bad RAM.

Which brand of RAM is it?
I use the Kingston brand for my G4 iBook.

Don't know the brand off hand. Came with the MAC back in 2003, so I can't exchange it. Guess I have very few options here...

I'd call Apple, RAM has a lifetime warranty...Or at least it should, Got a receipt?

I was unaware of any lifetime warranty, I'll have to check into it.

Apple is really good about standing behind their products. You can also take it to your nearest mac stores genius bar and they can help you. Good luck

Not true, Apple ram has only a one year warranty, unless you get the extended warranty, then it is three. The same applys to hard drives, negating the warranty by the maker of the drives or the ram.

Most third party ram has a lifetime warranty, if the company is still around. This is why I always recommend Kingston ram.

RAM was inop, got new RAM. Good 2 go. Thanks everyone.
