Modern Vespa

So, I poked my head outside this morning and there was the faintest hint that Spring might be on the horizon, or at least winter is drawing to a close, maybe.

So I decided it was time to dig out my Scooter parking spot.



Any of you SoCal riders jealous?

What was the hint ,It was 40 degrees and less than 2 feet of snow outside.Woohoo lets put some shorts on

You kiddin, it hit 41 today! Practically sun-bathing weather.

Having grown up in northern Maine (Aroostook County to you Mainiacs) and being an alum of UMO I can honestly say I don't miss that weather! I remember years where you'd trick-or-treat in the snow and then sit through Mother's Day with snow still on the ground. Crazy snowbanks that go up 15 ft by the side of the road. Living in SoCal ain't so bad now that I think about it.......

Ahhh, I can't wait till spring when we trailer up to Ogunquit and ride up and down route 1 and 1A!

I love the ride down route 1 along the coast South from Portland...

I have friends in cutler. Make the trip every time i go to new york. They have a house on the water. Yes can't beat rte 1.

My wife and I vacation in Ogunguit at the Beachmere Inn every fall and spring. I hope to one day bring the scooter along to explore all the cool places up and down the coast. The Nubble light is great and there is a nice ice cream store near too!

Love the reports from "Vacationland". My Dad tells me they got some snow in Washburn too. I used to ride my P200E around in Aroostok during the summer when I was a kid. Having lived in LA for fifteen years, I kind of miss the snow and the change of seasons. The thing I will NEVER miss is having a trillion mosquitoes and black flies flying up your nose and in your mouth when you're trying to breath. In LA you can enjoy the weather AND not have to cover yourself in "Cutter".

Do others know that the mosquito is the Maine state bird?

Or that big green moth with practicly a 1 foot wingspan those things are huge.I grew up spending my summers there in the Naples, Sebago area

Growing up, my house was between the Aroostook river and a big pond... Basically, a big mosquito incubator. We were their primary food source. Alfred Hitchcock should have made a move about them...

Riding through the bugs up here in high summer is a little like being sand blasted at times.... better than being bitten by them though!

I spent a couple weeks in Bar Harbor and Sebec Lake a few summers back and I don't remember any mosquitos. In fact, it was pretty damned close to idyllic. Did I luck out or something?

(Then again, I grew up in Florida so perhaps a few skeeters don't even register with me anymore...)

I thought that was Minnesota.
Land of 10,000 lakes and 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000.000,000 mosquitos.

I'm not sure where Sebec Lake is, but generally, the farther in the woods you are and the more standing water there is, the worse. On the coast, it's usually pretty breezy/windy... mosquitoes don't dig that. Of course, if you're from Florida, you already know that.

Oh, by the way, did anyone mention horseflies? They bite...hard.
