Wow. 11.4 miles at -17 degrees. I am surprised he did not get frostbite. You should read the description of his ride.

If you dress for it, it's not that bad, unless there's snow on the ground.
I've done a fair bit more of a distance than 10 miles in colder weather. not such a big a deal as he makes it out to be.
Frostbite is for exposed skin, or not properly covered skin.
( mind you I did get a little bit of a headache after a rather long and chilly ride. 21 miles @ - 16)

The Norwegians reportedly have a saying (perhaps Arvi could confirm) that there is no such thing as bad weather just bad clothing.
I have a saying that with the right clothing cold weather sucks. With the wrong clothing you die. "Cold" is a term yet to be defined but below 70°F is where I draw the line (20° C).A tad bit pre-hypothermic.
