I bought a motorcycle.

They're fitting a windscreen and delivering it this week. This is largely driven by my much advertized problems with support for my Vespa in the twin cities. I love the GT, it's not quite running right now but I hope to get it going once the garage warms up so I'll have two riding options. I've almost got my wife convinced to take over the scoot (she has a shorter and lower speed commute, much less likely to cause the breakdowns that may daily highway adventure has caused).

I can't complain about the scoot. I've got about 30,000 miles on it so I feel it's had a good life. I thought about just a larger scoot but none have the style and grace of the Vespa.

Since I've still got the GT I'm not off the forum! You're stuck with me. I've just got a commuter that better fits my needs and should be more reliable with plenty of local support.

I can't wait!

Sweet!
Thats a sweet bike, I've ridden one and liked it a lot. Easy to ride, plenty of power, asian-bike reliability and service costs.

(still good to have a Vespa! Glad youre keeping it and hanging around here)

Enjoy.

No help from Scooterville or MotoPrimo? That makes me sad.

Congrats on the bike purchase - she's a beauty.

Variety is the spice of life. Enjoy your new ride. You won't regret it and it will actually make you even more appreciative of the scooter!

Considering it isn't a scooter, that's a really pretty bike. Perfect shade of red for it.

Hardly the dark side, although i know you're joking. Lots and lots of folks here have both, since they're both enjoyable in vastly different conditions. I, for one, despise riding a scooter on the freeways, although I have placed an order for the BV 350 and hope that it will be somewhat more tolerable. Otherwise, I'll take my Road Glide any day. The GTS is just not freeway capable enough for me (I emphasize FOR ME!) If you keep both, you'll enjoy both, and the scooter more, since you won't be asking it to do what it is poorly capable of.
I say you've come over to the light side.
BTW, if you find a site that is half as enjoyable as MV for motorcycles let me know. Its worth keeping the scooter just to feel you belong on this great site!!

Thanks all. I think they'll complement each other. At least I have the EXCUSE that I'm keeping it for my wife!

Absolutely. Hope's my girl! You've got it all in that pic, a beautiful girl, an American flag, and a soccer goal. Throw in a pint of ale and you've got just about anything a guy could want!

Great bike! I had it's older sibling, little big brother, the Virago 535. Great bike but too small a tank. Bought it new in '87 sold it a year and a half ago to a friend.

I'm kind of surprised a guy your size is riding such a small machine though haha.

Very sweet MC there MUNCHI. You can't leave. Crying or Very sad emoticon A lot of people have both. So sad about good dealers that have trained mechanics tho. Were in the same boat. Hope you can get the GT up and running well and enjoy your new ride my friend.

We have four Harley-Davidson motorcycles, as well as two BMW motorcycles and the BV250 scooter. Also have a Yamaha and a CanAm around here someplace. People are always asking why we don't sell the "it's just a scooter", as they say.
Not a chance. IF.... I can get these people to take it out for a spin they come back with a new understanding of just how well "fun" and "practicality" can be combined.
Lomunchi, you will enjoy riding both of them, and I know how you feel about service. We just lost the only dealer in our whole state, but we're still keeping the BV!

Nice bike. Congrats!
FWIW I'm looking too. There are a lot of great deals on used bikes out there. The Vstar is a nice one. Let us know how you like it once you've got a few miles on it.

I too have been seriously thinking about a motorcycle. I love my Vesps GT200, but ths small wheels just give me too much of a rough ride on trips of any length unless the road is as smooth as glass. I did about 160 miles yesterday and I was really beat when I got home. The roads I traveled were not all that smooth
I'm not thinking of a real big bike, but something up to maybe 300 or 400cc. Big enough for highway travel when needed, but still relatively economical on fuel.

If you have access to a strong dealer, the new BV 350 (when available) would fill the bill quite nicely.

Lomunchi - That's a terrific looking bike...enjoy it!

Maybe I should have said that now I 'go both ways'.

Dang, it was 55 degrees today and the bike wasn't here yet and the scoot's not running right yet. 'getting antsy.
