Just got my spat chaps in today from Colorado Chaps (http://coloradochaps.com/motorcycle_spats.html) and I wanted to share how impressed I am. These are my current solution to needing knee/shin armor...I still don't have a good solution for hip or thigh, unfortunately, I just can't find gear in my size. These are also great for cutting the wind on the leading side of your shins.

The build quality on these is absolutely great, theyfeel very sturdy, the stitching is very heavy-duty, I think these will easily last as long as the bike, barring any unfortunate tearing incidents that might occur (catching on an edge or something).

The service was also terrific. I initially ordered a set in wide on a Friday, since I have thick calves. They had them shipped the same day from an existing stock, and even sent ones with the optional stirrup bungies installed just so they could fill the order promptly. Unfortunately, those were too big for me in the end, there was just too much overlapped material wrapped around the back of my calf. I got that first pair last Monday. They were great about the exchange, and I sent the wide pair back on Friday last week. Lo and behold, despite warning me they are about two weeks behind due to Daytona orders, the corrected pair in regular was here today, just a week after the first pair, and just five days, weekend included, after I contacted them to exchange! The new pair fits perfectly, and I can't wait to try them out tomorrow to and from work.

I highly recommend them if you want spat chaps, chaps, gauntlets, or anything else they can go!

I thought you were talking about me, as a Colorado chap, and how impressive I was. So disappointed !
You have Pics? Someone will surely tell you the post is worthless without them,
so saving them the trouble.

No pics yet...had orders to pack and ship last night. Their site has pics (fixed the link, I forgot the URL tags before). I'll try to add some later, it's just hard to get good pics of your own legs without a tall mirror!

I looked at their website and I like what I see!
I just may pick me up a pair. I am definately going to get the husband a pair.
The chaps attach with a velcro flap over your belt. I like this much better than having a belted chap!
Great find and thanks!

Yup their full chaps are two pieces and just strap over your belt. So no bunching or pulling or riding up on the leg. And they make them to your measurements for no extra cost...

The spats use a nice big velcro strap in the middle to get them on and snug, then there's an adjustable strap with a clasp above the ankle, and another just under the knee, so you can fit them nice and tight around anything you wear to ride to make sure they won't rotate or slide when you want that knee armor (hopefully never!). I had no trouble at all getting the regulars on wearing my long johns, work slacks, and boots, and I have shins just short of 20" in circumference around the calf muscle.

Assless chaps are great for riding Stickyfrog!
You should try it sometime.
But watch the temperatures. When it gets above 80 degrees, those black seats can burn!

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire.....

I do like the spats things. I wonder if they would stay on should you have a fall off the scoot. Those would solve some problems for me. I want to be able to ride the scoot more to work and have protection easily removed (watch it Sticky) when I get there.

I love context. It's so crucial to a statement, and makes a statement so much more entertaining when the context is removed. Laughing emoticon Maybe I should put that in my sig...also, missing commas for the win!

Once you get the straps properly adjusted, they should stay fine. I did my damnedest to pull/twist them out of place once I had them properly set and fitted securely, and they stayed put very nicely. I don't expect any issues there.

Not chaps, but good riding pants, cheap. Cycle Gear has the BILT overpants, on sale. Normally $179. and now half off.

I like. My legs are so short that I can't find armored pants that fit. This will be better than nothing.
