Just picked up some Motul DOT 5.1 Brake Fluid....thoughts before I do the change?

http://www.motul.com/us/en-US/products/77?f[application]=144&f[range]=21

I see our reservoir says "only DOT 4" but this is apparently the new stuff and meets dot 4 recommendations.

Dot 3, Dot 4, and Dot 5.1 are compatible, Dot 5 is not.

GTV250 Brake Fluid

For me to interpret this information as stated: can I add Dot 3 since I am a tad low to what I have (Dot 4) in brake fluid, or would that require an entire brake fluid change? I can wait a day or two until I go purchase Dot 4.

My right brake is "soft" when I brake; hence, looked at all fluid levels and noticed brake fluid was a tad low - maybe 1/2 ounce or so.

get some dot 4 , also check you pad wear. worn pads make the lever behave softly and you have to use more lever to get the same braking power.

5.1 is totally compatible with DOT 3 or 4 and has a higher boiling point than DOT 3 and 4.

**The 5.0 is not a bad fluid but rather, it's silicone based and made for braking systems that are designed specifically for DOT5....and ONLY for those specific systems. Never put DOT 5 in any system made for DOT 3 or 4.

I have @ 1800 miles on the pads ... I do not ride the brakes as I live rurally and my stopping is few and far between, if you know what I mean? Do you think pads could already be worn?
