The bottom screw holding on my leg shield trim has come loose. I can't figure out what it was screwing into and it just doesn't seem to want to screw back into whatever it was screwed into before.

My normal M.O would be to unscrew all the screws, take it off and see how it all went together....then end up in a big mess when i can't get ANY of the screws to go back in....so thought i'd ask first?

I wouldn't mind so much but reving through the gears, it sets up a real metallic vibration.

Hi,
If it's the SS trim, perhaps the locking set screws have, over time, loosened and messed up the threads. There are not many (threads) there in the first place. The locking screws are pinched against the leg-shield edge. If you've lost the threads in the trim, you might try drilling a tiny pilot hole in the leg-shield and hold the trim in place using a tiny SS sheet metal screw. You might want to check the other set screws, BTW.
Good luck!

Thanks for your reply. I didn't realize the screw did not go through the legshield, but against the edge. The screw is still in the trim so hopefully the thread is ok. I will try to fix as before then take your advice if it pops off again
