Well I've been lurking on MV long enough, about four months, so I guess it's time I introduced myself. I'm a 57 year old semi-retired Canuck that drove home his first scooter last Sunday. While I have had five motorcycles back in my salad days, I've been two-wheel-less for more than twenty years. That state of affairs has ended. I put a bit over 100 km on the scoot on the first day, almost froze to death, and loved every second of it.
My scooter-cycle is a Piaggio BV 250, a scooter that seems to be looked down on a little in this forum, for reasons that I must say, totally excape me.
Looking forward to trading information, laughs, and good times with the wonderful people on this board.

Roy,
Toronto, home of grey snow and $1.04 a liter gas.

Welcome and congrats on seeing the light! Your scoot is great! Just realize you'll want more-do not fight this urge. It is fruitless!

Now that you are a semi-retired Canuck what nationality will you be? KIDDING!

Welcome Roy - and howdy from Vancouver - just look to the West and wave!

I honestly haven't noticed any biases against the BV 250 on this forum!
Personally, I have a real soft spot for this big wheel. I love seeing it fully loaded with topbox and side cases. It isn't the best selling Piaggio in Europe for no reason.

A smart, sexy ride with some great features ..... enjoy!

Roy, about time you started to post here. I don't think you will find that the BV250 is looked down upon here. I quite like the BV and considered it prior to purchasing my GTS. I think it is quite the handsome scooter actually. Welcome to Modern Vespa.

Hi Roy. Nothing wrong with a BV250. Almost bought one and then changed to a GTS250.

Welcome. There are more piaggio owners than you think. Alas we are a small group, but we are just one big family no matter what you ride

Welcome Guiscard. We share something in common:

You ride a scoot that's not yet available in my country, and
I ride a scoot that's not (I think) available in your country, but

they're both Piaggio!

Enjoy, and keep smiling

Hello again. Crackhead, I'll try to get some pictures of the scoot this Sunday, at the Toronto Moto Scooter Club's first non-official ride of this year. (I think) Digger Dave, you're right, they don't sell the X8 here. It's a small market and I don't think it could support both the X8 and the BV250. Your market might be much the same, only you got the X8 instead of the BV. Hi Judy, I probably make my comment more strongly worded than I ment to. However the Piaggio comunity on this forum seems a bit shy, minority status maybe? Razz emoticon I noticed that a couple of weeks ago, when someone posted that they thinking of buying a BV250, and asked for comments. NOBODY answered. Makes an outsider wonder. BTW, I had no idea that Piaggio made a smaller big wheeler than the BV250 until I read your post about getting your beloved LT fixed. I did a search on Google and realized "Beauty" had a smaller sister. (I don't believe they ever sold the LT in Canada, but I could be mistaken.)

Ride Safe,
Roy

Another Toronton??? Benny have you been riding around with a sandwich board on or something?

Welcome. We encourage you to ask your toughest questions about your scoot here. You'll get some expert advice but first you'll get wise-guy comments from people like me that went twist-n-go largely because their twisted brains are gone!

Welcome to MV Guiscard, I don't have a full Piaggio myself,
But I feel comfortable on this board with just a Piaggio engine in my scooter.

See you on the warmer Meetup rides in the future.

Cheers!

Hey there and welcome! I tried to talk my husband into getting a GTS to match mine. No way! Once he saw the BV250 he was in love with the look. He loves the big wheels! He prefers the look of the BV over my GTS so I don't think you're in bad company. Enjoy and pray for warm weather in your area. We're gonna hit 90 tomorrow!!! Clap emoticon

Hi Roy, great to see you show your face here finally!

I think the Toronto contingent here could start to give the Californians a run for their money soon. Ok, maybe not, but we are well represented 8)

See you tomorrow!

Welcome Roy!

Like many others, I too went to the dealer to buy a BV250. They had a demo GTS at a sweet price so I went with that instead.

Nothing wrong with that bike man! Your gonna love it!

If you havent done so already, register at TMSC. Its the Toronto Scooter Club. Good Bunch of peeps.

Enjoy the spring and watch out for thawing doggie doo!
