I noticed that brownish/purple Gunk was coming out hole where the evap hose was connected to. What is it? it doesn't smell like anything.

Supposedly the carburetor was cleaned about 2 months ago from the vespa authorized workshop. Could it be that they never did? or would this not come out of this whole?

It is brownish and the opposite of oilly. When you touch it it dries on your hand quickly. It's a couple of drops. Could it be condensation of something?

Sounds like a good guess. Or residue from the cleaning.

Would keep an eye on it. Non-issue if it stops. If not probably want to investigate further.

I believe the evap hose connects to the vent for the float bowl on the carb. The purpose for connecting the evap hose is to gather up any hydrocarbons from evaporating fuel and capture them in the charcoal canister (thus resulting in fewer emissions/pollutants). I suspect what you are seeing is what "old as dirt" called "varnish". It's the crap that's left over when you let fuel evaporate. It will not smell like fuel after the evaporation has occurred.

I believe you have nothing to be concerned about. Keep an eye on it though. If you start seeing a lot of deposits, maybe take a photo and show us.

After I purchased the Vespa having sat for 2 years they cleaned the carb. Not much gas in the tank but i wAs new to vespas and didnt know so I left the bit of gas (probably old gas) as is. Now I'm on my 3 tank refil should I use some Sea Foam?

How is it running?

If runs OK, not necessary as you had carb disassembled and cleaned.

Still Got Gunk
I drove it today in this beautiful day and noticed the gunk issue again. It it was still only about 3 drops of this stuff. It is DARK brown and probably looks like varnish. Scooter runs fine (i am new to vespas but seems to ride as it should).

Since the time i noticed it I have run 4 gallons through scooter with the sea foam. Could it be that reaction?

is the varnish bad in the float bowl? or this the stuff that was going into the canister?

It think it's fuel condensation/evap gunk...exactly what that's supposed to capture. When I disconnected my evap hose from the T point on the right of the scooter, it would drip a bit or two...especially when warmer.

I've reconnected my evap hose as I think the scooter actually runs better with it on...I only disconnect now if I overall just to air it out.

I would NOT worry about it or even think about it. If it bugs you, why not reconnect the hose?
