Modern Vespa

So I bought my 2006 LX150 off of craigslist about 6 weeks ago and I love it and it seems to be in great condition. However, I am having one problem: I cannot seem to "lock" the bike. Am I doing something wrong? The key works fine in the "off" and "on" position but for the life of me I cannot get it to the lock position... which means I cannot lock the front wheel or the glove box so I'm afraid to leave it anywhere. Someone could just roll it away!!!!

ps. I searched and didn't find info on the forum

pps. any friendly scooter peeps in sacramento that do/want to do rides? The weather keeps getting sweeter!

Just in case you hadn't tried this yet...make sure the handlebars are turned all the way to the left before you lock it.

That's the way it works on my ET4.

Menhir: I tried that...I feel like I've tried everything! holding in brakes, turned all the way to the left, turned all the way to the right, pressing in a turning the key, gently pulling out and turning, giggling (or is that spelled jiggling?) the key... maybe I will just have to admit to myself there is a problem...booo!!!!!!!!

Sounds like someone has forced it and broken off the little tumbler that locks the steering.
Unfortunate, I don't know what it will cost to fix that.

Does the key turn to the left at all?

Turn the headset all the way to the left like your making a sharp left hand turn. Then turn the key all the way counter clockwise...

Thats how mine locks

handlebars full to the left. place key in. turn it to the left. DONT PUSH IT IN. i dont knwo if it is different on an lx but works on my gts. i assume that the lx is the same. does the glove box open when you push the key in?

Yea...The glove box will open if you push the key in,
My girlfriend has a 2006 LX150 and I rode it all last summer.

It should lock the steering if you turn the key to the left.

Man...What a pain if it doesn't want to work.

idd whip the glove box off and have a look. trying to sort it yourself is good for saving on bills.

As stated, you need to turn the headset all the way to one side (left) BUT you might also need to "wiggle" the headset a bit as you turn the key to the lock position.

i sometimes have to do that. theyre a little tempremental these steering locks.

And easily broken when stealing a bike.

Well, I was about to post another sobbing message when I thought I would give it one more try. I tried the wiggling the head as I turned the key. I'm not sure if that did anything but....I finally got it all the way to lock!!!! It appears that it is just really stiff and a little jerky. Woohooooooooo! Better than not working at all!

Although sometimes unavoidable after a particularly great ride, giggling will not help in locking the steering.
