A friend has a 250 GTS similar to mine and we seem to have a problem.

Mine is a V4/275 with malossi Variator and easily climbs up to 8/9--- rpm while his 275 with PM pipe and everything else stock will not go over 7.000 rpms.

So far I have swithced our fuel injectors (no difference), checked the gas cable (seems ok) and changed a spark plug.

Rpm's had never bothered me in the past, so I do not know if mine was revving lower before the engine mods and nor does he remember his max revs before the 275 conversion.

Anyone with a stock 250GTS or a tuned with a rev meter that is willing to test his redline?

Or any ideas on what this issue could possibly be?

Thanks in advance

Are you relying on the dashboard tach? or using an add-on tachometer?

Just the stock displays unfortunately.

one thing we tested just now, his reaches 110 km/h while mine rolls up to 130.
Side by side comparison, no windscreens and equal weight and body type passengers.

this is getting interesting.

The main difference would seem to be the variator - and type and weight of rollers.

Swap those over and see what happens.

so a stock GTS can not rev over 7.000?

that is very interesting!

I will try to convince him to change his variator or rollers as I am not willing to swap them twice just out of curiosity.
I will report back when he decides to...
