Modern Vespa

I read another thread on this and it didnt draw any solid conclusions, so I thought I might ask again.
Other day I left my scoot in the sun, mid 70s, for a couple of hours. When I started it up, it idled verrrry slow and belched a little on takeoff, but generally ran OK. That wass the first time I had anything unusual happen in about 3,000 miles
Today, another warm day, I ran it about 10-12 miles on the freeway, parked in the driveway for about 30 minutes, went to start it and the engine woudn't catch unless I gave it lots of gas, Then it dies every time I bring it back to idle so if I pull up to a stop sign, it stops running. I vented the gas cap, and that didnt seem to help.
Any thoughts?

Had you put fresh gas in it before this happened? Maybe that has something to do with it. Almost sounds like it's overheating

Filled up inthe last two weeks so gas wasnt an issue. Fan didn't come on, so I'm not sure about the overheating =- i didnt notice the temp gauge being inan unusual spot.

I ran into a problem similar about a week or two ago where I overfilled the gas tank. Somehow, it backed up and made its way to the air cleaner and carbon cannister. It meant taking off the hose that vents gas fumes from the tank to the carb. Then draining the gas from the two bubbles on the air cleaner and ultimately cleaning the air filter. I did this and it fixed mine.
