This morning...wait, it was almost noon, I called Curt, dealer principal of Vespa of Vacaville, to tell him that we have a deal and that I would like delivery today, if possible. Just to put things into perspective: we are talking 600+ miles from Las Vegas to his garage in Vacaville. One way.
I heard him swallow on the phone (or was it me?) and he said, he promised, so he'll do it. I'm like that myself, so I can appreciate if a friend is a man of his word as well.
Let me tell you, Curt's word is law! Everything he said during the negotiations and thereafter that he would do, he did. So, at about 5am, he called and said he is just pulling out, with his Honda Ridgeline and my GTS in its bed. He figured he'd be at his house around 2pm or so, and he even manipulated traffic to keep his word. This man is amazing.
Then the actual delivery process started, where he explained the operation, gave valuable tips for safety, and answered all my anxious questions. Then I squeezed it out of his scooter filled garage, where we swapped out the rims & added an argyle stripe , and we went inside to see his new stainless refridgerator. He also explained the importance of the red key. All, because I lost faith in my closest local dealer and their organization, be it sales or service.
But I'm getting ahead of myself. When I heard that Curt had learned to play with himself as a youth, I urged him to play on mine (I've only started playing 18 months ago). He was a bit shy at first, but then he sat down and blew me away, with a piece that he said he had developed himself. This man is not just a delivering scooter dude, he is a thoroughbred entertainer too, and a performer. Check this out:
The poor guy couldn't spend more time to have dinner with me because he had to get some rest & make sure his garage was securely locked and in good shape, before he could finally see his family again, and what a nice and talented family he has!
So, there it is, a brand spanking new . . .to me 2006 GTS, delivered half across the west coast, almost, and by the guy I would attend any rally with. Try him out, and if you know the triple alternative, you will be very happy you did. I am for sure.
Thank you Curt, you're da man!
PS: ...and I leave it to you to explain your funny pirate limp...
