Modern Vespa

I've been noticing recently an increase in the "dead space" when I start from a dead stop-I hear the engine rev but it takes a second to actually start moving and acceleration overall isn't what it used to be. The problem seems to be worseining over time, but that could just be me (and I am worsening over time).

I've also started noticing a sputtering sound when I decelerate.

The details: 5700 or so miles. EVAP hose disconnected. Recently cleaned air filter. Changed oil & filter last week. Idle seems to be okay.

The usual suspects: fuel filter, carb, spark plug?
Is it time for new roller weights, maybe?

I'm guessing new roller weights are in order. That's a typical symptom.

I'm considering, as long as I'm cracking this open, installing the Malossi Multivar (especially since it's on sale). I know it comes with 2 sets of roller weights, but it doesn't specify what weight. Are they 11.5 and 14?

I think 9.5 and 14 if I remember correctly. (I'm at home)

i see your rollers and raise you a spark plug.

while you're in there, might as well service the clutch and check the belt, too.

e-rock, if you go for the multi-var, i'd highly suggest mixing the weights. but leaving your stock contra spring. gimme a shout if you need a hand with any of it.

G-rock, you use 11.5 & 14 with a multi-var, right? I'm now thinking about mixing weights with the stock variator... mostly because my disposable scooter income is being reserved for a better summer jacket. Or should I just stick with standard weights until I'm ready for the multi-var?
