Modern Vespa

Hello everyone! Just thought I'd introduce myself as today I ordered a Vespa LX 125, after a year of umming and ahhing.

I bought the scooter to use for my daily commute from one part of London to another, although I'm sure I'll use it for more fun things, too. Basically, after a month in my new job, I'm sick of having to get into the office for 7.30am every day just so that I don't get stuck in rush hour jams (no, the train's not an option). I'm also sick of the really bad fuel economy of the car I'm driving and the cost of parking. I reckon the Vespa will pay for itself in a year or so.

So anyway, I'm pretty excited about getting into scootering and look forward to reading and taking part in the discussions on here.

Welcome! You'll save enough in one year to pay for the scoot?! Wow! My two oldest kids and I visited London in 1996. We stayed with friends, walked and took the tube. I guess we were sheltered form the cost of commuting. You'll love the ride!

what is the cost of petrol in London?

$2.65 I paid for a gallon of premium here today...luckily
the Vespa only needed 2 gallons

stjerome - unleaded petrol is 91p per litre (£3.45/$6.70 per US gallon) where I am. The car I'm currently driving has really bad fuel economy (it's an automatic) so just on petrol alone, I should be saving around £20 per week.

christos - I'm sure I'll be heading down to Brighton when the weather's nice as I'm only 35 miles away. Having the scooter means I won't have to stress about the summer traffic jams or parking which has been the main reason for not getting down there more.
