We headed out Saturday morning with Apalachicola, on the gulf coast, as our destination. We got a little side-tracked and finally made it there, but we only drove through because according to our gps's it would bring us home after dark.

The coords on this cache took us to the parking area and here I am with my "strawberry" trying to find the coords of the cache. No luck! Oh well, it is always fun riding down sandy Florida roads.

My arm almost isn't long enough to read the screen!

Another stop on the way down was the most interesting of the day. The cache was called "Mr. Harvey's Collection."

One of these isn't quite like the other. Can you spot Paul's GS?

Ah ha, the cache! I just love the places caching takes us!

Let's see...11 caches, 350 miles. Not a bad day at all, even if I did have to wear my heated gear and it was after dark when we got home!

Very cool, I love the 650. My brother and I go caching and it is amazing where some of them are hidden. It does take you to places that you otherwise wouldn't go. 8)

I've always thought that caching would be fun. How do you find groups that do this?

Reaching under an old truck seems like a good place to find some cached snakes!

Looks like a lot of fun. I wish we had those sandy back roads around here. I second the reaching under the vehicles. Never know whats under there just waiting ...

www.geocaching.com is a good place to start. You can set up a free account to keep track of your caches, and find ones near you. They also have a forum with regional discussions, so you might find that there is a group in your area.

Even if there isn't you'll find many of the same people have found the same caches as you. Contact them and propose a get together. There is the North East Ohio Geocahcers (NEOGEO) near me, and they have picnics and get togethers throughout the year.

Here's me. No, I haven't done much, nor been out for a while...

Watch out for poison ivy!

I am terrified of snakes...TRUST me, I had inspected where I was sticking my hand before I retrieved it. If I can't see the area surrounding a cache, I have my trusty companion, Bubb, retrieve it for me.

I no longer do trail caches in the summer down here, I wait until winter. Reason being, I was walking on a trail and a snake fell out of a tree and landed RIGHT in front of me.

We cache a lot...here we are: http://www.geocaching.com/profile/?guid=4e476962-aa92-41ae-a1d0-57614e117c17

Forget about the Geocaching. How as the seafood in Apalachicola? (A few oysters, some Mullet backbones and cheese grits would do me well right about now!)

Hey Judy, I think I've found a cache there before.

Tim, we didn't have a chance to stop in Apalachicola, you must be talking about the diner on the corner.

We did stop at a seafood restaurant and I asked for a small shrimp with a garden salad. The waitress said the garden salad would be extra unless I got the "all you can eat." Not wanting the "all you can eat" I got the small order with a garden salad. When my plate came there had to be 30 shrimp there. Sheesh, glad I didn't order a large as Paul enjoyed helping me with my small order.

Cindy what great pictures and neat hobbie! I guess in order to do this you gotta have a GPS, so that rules me out. I must be one of the few that still use a map. I would like to try my hand at this Geocaching though, Beale.

Beale, our friends teenager found many without a gps though I'm not sure I would have been able to. He used google maps and hints.

Thanks for that.

One day I may have a GPS, until then I am gonna start learning about this hobbie. Anything that combines riding, clues, and being outside, sounds like fun, Beale.
