what's your poison?
I have ton of them, but for basic old-world Euro goodness I prefer an Opinel.
Who carries?

Swiss Army knife "Executive"
Its smaller and very pocketable but still has scissors (for mustache trim) and the finger nail file can be used for Phillips screws. I keep the large blade "pretty" sharp for gross cutting jobs, opening boxes and blister paks, and the smaller one is razor sharp for the occasional surgery. I was thinking about having carried a pocket knife for the last 60+ years. I lost my father in 1946 and my mother always tried to give me the things she thought my father would have given me. When I was about 8 or 9 she gave me my first pocket knife, a Boker Tree brand small two blade. I made my own choice in the '60s to the SA Executive and have carried one for the last 40+ years. I still have every one I ever had. I have 4 Executives over that 40 years. If a 9 year old kid had a knife today and took it to school he would be cuffed, tased, and thrown under the school bus. His entire life would be ruined. I carried mine to school from the 4th grade on, every day. I loaned it to teachers when they needed one. I used it every day for something. I could no more do without my knife than shoes. When I fly I put it in the checked bag. If no checked bag I mail one ahead and carry a prepaid envelope to mail it back home. I would give up every Apple product I own, and I own one of everything, before I would give up my knife. [Dangerously close to a rant. ![]()

Swiss Army knife but I no longer carry one in my bag because of security hassles at airports and government buildings. So one lives in each of my vehicles including each scoot.

I have carried the same Buck #301 Stockman since I rode my bike up to the hardware store at age 13 to part with a rather huge sum of money...about eight bucks or so.
I also carry a CQC-7 Emerson, or when on duty, a Benchmade Stryker auto and a Victorinox Camper model Swiss Army knife. |

When I was younger I always carried the Buck 110 on my belt, but lockable folders were outlawed a few years ago, so I started carrying a Laguiole (black horn) instead. This knife follows me everywhere, everyday.
When I am absolutely sure that I do not need to be in places where the Buck can cause trouble (any public place), I use that, and sometimes my A. G. Russell Sting (which is also a nice thrower). Until May 1st this year, being caught with a lockable folder, or anything with a blade above 7 cm. (2.7 inch), in a public place would automatically get you one month in prison. Now it is just a DKK 5.000 (USD 840) fine. /Andy |

I've got three Swiss army knives (victorinox, not wenger crap) of varying sizes plus a smaller one on my key ring.
Had one on me pretty much very day since I was about 13. Now, of course, someone of school age carrying a knife is seen as a murderer in waiting. |

awwwh - this makes me kind of sad. I had a special swiss army knife that my daddy gave me as a gift a few years before he died. I was traveling on and around 9/11 and it was confiscated by security. At that time, they were mailing confiscated items back home for travelers. My knife never made it hom

I have a beautiful Laguiole with damascus steel blade and horn grips that I got at the Laguiole store in Paris ($!). I don't carry it much because I go to court a lot, but wish I could.
Around the yard, doing work, I carry either a K-Bar (a real one), which you can use for anything, even a hammer, or a Baby Seal switchblade (some kind of exotic metal - non magnetic) which has a scary sharp edge, and opens with authority. |

Today I'm carrying a rather simple and inexpensive Kershaw Chill knife, designed by RJ Martin. I like this one (and carried it in my pocket throughout Cannonball 2012) because it is thin and light. It's not very sharp, though.
I have about 20 other knives at home and scattered around various jacket pockets. ![]() |

Always carry a Benchmade 553 Griptilian. Not by any means a field knife, which I have Ka-Bar 1218 for. SOG Pentagon was retired to my safe in favor of the Benchmade. Also a Leatherman Surge always on my belt, along with a Fenix TK15 light.
I have a decent collection of Benchmade gold series blades as well. |

I've always had Swiss Army knives, the best is my Champion that my Dad bought me when I was young and he caught me lusting after it in a store. I carried a butterfly knife (Balisong) in high school and loved coming up with fancy flipping routines on my long bus ride, I can't even imagine that today.
![]() I currently have a Laguiole I use for cutting food (apples and such) at work and a smaller Swiss that comes in handy constantly. I don't know how kids get by without knives these days, they are such a basic tool. I guess you can't miss what you don't know ⚠️ Last edited by Timbit on UTC; edited 1 time
