LX150 Variator Roller Change & Bendix gear cleaning
Overview
You must replace your variator rollers and shoes at recommended Service Intervals. Having a "sticky bendix gear" can stop your bike from starting. You will need to clean the bendix gear if this happens.

Tools & Parts
Required
  • New variator roller weights, shoes and nut for your model
  • 8mm, 18mm & 19mm socket and ratchet(s)
  • Diagonal Cutting Pliers
  • Flat screwdriver
  • Variator holder tool for 150cc leader motors.
  • Clutch Holder Tool
  • Torque Wrench
  • Loctite Medium (Blue)
  • Brake Cleaner
  • Safety Glasses
  • Black cable or "zip" tie
  • White lithium grease
Nice to have
  • Power socket driver for transmission cover bolts.
Tips
  • You should replace your old variator nut with a new nut when reinstalling.
  • Having a helper lean the bike to install the inner half pulley at an angle will make it much easier.
  • Time is approximately 30-60 minutes depending on skill level.
  • Check your model's manual for specifics on how far the brake lever should move. This is 10mm or 3/8" on an LX150.
